Cardano Overview

Cardano is a cryptocurrency which uses the Ouroboros Proof-of-stake (PoS) Algorithm which promises a much higher Transactions per Second capacity than any other PoS cryptocurrency such as Ethereum, Tezos or Cosmos

The Cardano Network splits time into periods called epochs which last approximately 5 days

Cardano has a limited number of coins in circulation: ₳

As of Jan 2021 there are approximately 31.112.484.646 ₳ in circulation

Every Transaction is public and can be read in the blockchain

Some blocks are produced each epoch by random Stake Pools. Read more about this process

Cardano allows Smart Contracts and K Ethereum Virtual Machine (KEVM) which is a version taken from the Ethereum Virtual Machine
